Meet the Jenkins’s. I loved shooting this cozy Indianapolis Lifestyle Session of the Jenkins Family! Shaun, Brittany and little Ophelia came together in their Indy home for some really sweet family portraits on a warm August afternoon.
I adore in-home/lifestyle sessions for so many reasons, especially because they capture your personality (and that of your house) as well as the moment that your family is in right now! (Embrace the chaos!)
I first met Brittany years ago when working for the House of Representatives. Last Summer she reached out to me to do a family session with she, her husband and their three pups. Little did I know when she first reached for their session out that we would also shoot a pregnancy announcement a few weeks later, they were expecting their first little babe in April 2020! I was thrilled to be able to do another session for them this month, this time including 4 month old Ohpi Grace. They really are the sweetest family, and I can’t say it enough how lucky I am to have the best families as my clients! It wasn’t a hard job to capture such sweet moments between these guys 🙂
One of the best things about in-home photo sessions is that we take out a lot of the difficulty for babies and toddlers. Instead of dressing everyone, packing the toys, and loading up to go to a new location, the kids are able to stay in their most comfortable environment with their entire selection of toys (and bribes-no shame for bringing out the fruit snacks.)
When I was envisioning an Indianapolis lifestyle session with the Jenkins’s I knew Brittany would have the cutest little nursery set up. And I wasn’t disappointed! With the grey and white walls and the pops of pink for Ophelia it was a beautiful backdrop to start off the session. Then they changed outfits in to some pretty awesome T-shirts for a few more so we set up in the backyard to get those casual portraits, all snuggled on the quilt. That’s what I believe in-home sessions and lifestyle sessions are all about: capturing this moment in your life, just the way it is.
